Why Fall is the Best Time to Start your Landscape Project
Many people think that the most ideal time to start a landscape project is in the summer, however, fall is one of the best times to get your project completed or at least get a head start on the process. Assiniboine’s landscape crews are hard at work completing projects until winter sets in and our estimators are available in the fall providing complimentary consultations and free estimates to help you get started on your project plan.
Here are some of the benefits to booking your landscape project this fall:
Convenience
Choosing to have your landscape project completed in the fall or even early spring allows you to enjoy spending time in your yard during the summer months without being disturbed by any construction. Now that the kids are back in school and summer is coming to an end, it’s a convenient and opportune time to start a project when you’re not using your yard as much. And to top it off, when summer rolls around next year, you will be all set to use your brand new outdoor retreat!
Timing
Spring going into early summer is our busiest time of year for doing estimates. A lot of people are hoping to get their projects completed before the hot summer months arrive, and we don’t blame them! Whether it’s dining or barbecuing on the deck, sitting around a fire pit or just lounging on the patio with a cold beverage and a good book, summer is a time when people want to spend the most time outside as possible. With the demand of many customers all wanting their projects completed at the same time, spring and early summer can book up quickly. Getting an estimate and booking your landscape project this fall or even for early next spring will get you ahead of the rush, meaning, come summer, you will be able to enjoy your brand new landscape from day 1!
Pricing
Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that the pricing of materials and other products will usually go up. To ensure you are getting the best bang for your buck, it’s an excellent idea to take advantage of the current pricing by booking your project in the fall before companies raise their product prices next year. Even if you book your project in the fall to start early next spring, you can still take advantage of the best prices by locking in now.
Best Time to Plant Sod
It may seem a little strange to be planting new sod when winter is fast approaching, however, fall is one of the best times to do it! The reason is that it doesn’t require as much watering or maintenance. The sod doesn’t need to root before winter, as it goes dormant until spring. Once spring arrives, all the moisture from any snowmelt and spring rains will provide the sod an excellent opportunity to establish and you will be left with a beautiful and lush lawn that your neighbours will envy!
