The Design Process
1. Initial Consultation
Our professional landscape designer will meet with you in your home to discuss your needs, vision and budget for your outdoor spaces.
2. Property Assessment
Site analysis, measurements and photographs taken by the designer
3. Initial Drafts
Creation of 2-3 draft concept plans of specified areas of the property to be landscaped. These drawings will show the location of all proposed and existing remaining site elements such as paths, driveways, decking, paving, fences, garden structures and general planting areas.
4. Present Concept Plans
Review of concept plans with homeowners in person to discuss preferences, changes and revisions. (two revisions included in initial fees)
5. Preparation of Final Design Plans and Associated Documents
6. Final Design Plans and Supporting Documents Emailed to Customer
Customers will be sent one colour and one black and white 11 x 17 pdf copy of the final scaled CAD drawings, as well as a plant care instruction package.
Design Timeline
Designs may take between 2-4 weeks or more depending on the complexity and scope of the design project as
well as the customer’s availability to meet with the designer.
Average Design Fees - dependent on location, size and complexity of project

Initial Design Consultation – $240 (If customer is unsure about whether they would like to proceed with a full design, an initial 1.5-hour consultation with our designer is possible. After the initial consultation, if customer decides to proceed with a full design, the $240 will be reimbursed towards the design fee)
Front Yard: $800 – $1100
Backyard Design: $1200 – $1600
Full Urban Residential Design (includes front and backyard design): $1500 – $1800
Acreage Design: $2500+
The fee for the design will be determined upon the initial home consultation. If you choose to work with
Assiniboine Landscapes to install your landscaping, a percentage of the landscape design fee will be returned
towards the cost of your project. The amount refunded will depend on the size of the construction contract.
- Projects under $25,000 – 10%
- Projects between $25,000 and $50,000 – 25%
- Projects over $50,000 – 50%
